Etymology
There was an attempt at an actual bush festival in w:Sydney|Sydney in 1919, the idea apparently then extended to the present figurative use. (Reference: ABC News below.)

- AU colloquial An imaginary or symbolic time when simple people from the bush (ie. country areas) come to the city, likely to be preyed on by tricksters there. A question like What is this – bush week? is thus a protest by the speaker against some obvious prank or ruse.
